Young Headwaters Psychotherapy
Ann Young is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience from UCLA and then received her Master of Social Work from University of Southern California with a concentration in Children, Youth and Families. Ann utilizes Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) while incorporating both attachment and relational-cultural theory. She operates from a strengths-forward lens and believes that safety and trust are of the utmost importance in the therapeutic process. She believes that understanding is the first step on the journey towards change. Ann is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys spending her free time hiking, rock climbing and exploring with her son.
Specialties
I primarily work with adults (18+) and couples. Because I offer psychotherapy through telehealth only, I generally do not accept children or teens, who are better served in-person.
Frequently
Asked Questions
Q1: How Long Have You Worked in This Field?
I have worked in social services for over 13 years! I spent 8 years at a Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program for pregnant and parenting foster teen moms, fully immersed in child and adolescent mental health. I’ve been conducting therapy since 2019.
Q2: What Will My First Session Look Like?
This is where you and I meet to first create a safe therapeutic alliance. Your goals, desires, and hesitations (we all have them) are the focus. Therapy is your dedicated space and time; you’re in the driver’s seat and I’m riding shotgun.
Q3: Will I Start Feeling Better Immediately?
Not necessarily (I know, that may not be what you want to hear!) Depending on what your therapeutic goals are, it may take a while to work through roadblocks, limiting beliefs, or deep rooted childhood trauma. While “the work” may be difficult to experience, therapy should never include judgment or shame. I encourage all clients to share their honest feelings about therapy so we can ensure you feel in control, you feel safe, and your goals are always the focus.
Q4: What is your license number and expiration date?
California LCSW #118375, expiration date 10/31/27
